XANTHOS & SAKLIKENT & TLOS & PATARA
   Xanthos is 18 km from Kalkan. It was the capital city of Lycia a favourite of alexander the great. You can stil see in Xanthos the remains of a Roman amphitheatre, acropolis and Harpy Monument, which is a family sarcophagus situated on a carved rock / plinth.
   Saklikent (Hidden City), is 33 km from Kalkan & is reached by crossing a 100 meter long wood bridge over the canyon. Water rushes over the boulders in the river, creating a wonderful atmosphere for the restaurants and trout farms found there. The Gorge runs for 18 km, six km of this long canyon are good for walking & hiking through the river water & over boulders !
   After we visit Tlos, which is one of the most important sites of Lycia as it is know as the home of Pegasus. Our last visit is Yakapark, lunch time in this natuarly, miracle place all the day’s excursion flies away.
   The ruins of Patara are situated about 20 km south of Kalkan. Much of the city is stil buried in the sand & excavation work continues to uncover this important harbour city of Lycia in Anatolia. Patara was the birth place of St.Nicholas; know to us all as Father Christmas. The beach here is the longest sandy beach in Turkey is one of the most famous in the world. İt is totally unspoilt.
