Airport Transfer Safety in Turkey
TÜRSAB licensing, insurance, driver vetting — how to verify your transfer is safe and legal.
TÜRSAB License
Every legal transfer operator in Turkey must be registered with TÜRSAB (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies). Ask for their TÜRSAB registration number — you can verify it at tursab.org.tr. Define Tours is TÜRSAB-registered. If a company cannot provide a TÜRSAB number, do not book.
Commercial Passenger Insurance
Legal transfer vehicles carry comprehensive commercial passenger insurance — not just standard car insurance. This covers you as a paying passenger. Ask: "Do you have commercial passenger insurance?" A legitimate operator will answer yes immediately.
Professional Driver Licensing
Transfer drivers in Turkey must hold an SRC (Professional Driver Competence) certificate in addition to their driving licence. This requires training, exams, and regular renewal. Rideshare drivers (Uber-style) may not have this.
Vehicle Safety Standards
Commercial transfer vehicles undergo mandatory 6-month inspections (TÜV equivalent). Look for the inspection sticker on the windscreen. All our vehicles carry first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, warning triangles, and reflective vests.
Red Flags to Avoid
⛔ No website, only a Facebook page · ⛔ No TÜRSAB number · ⛔ Price quoted without seeing your destination · ⛔ Asks for full payment via bank transfer before arrival · ⛔ No reviews on Google or TripAdvisor · ⛔ Driver contacts you before the company does
